About English Department
The Department of English was started in our Bapuji Educational Association in the academic year 1957-58 by offering English Language paper to B.Sc. Degree programme. The department at present has one permanent faculty and dedicated part time staff provides an ideal environment for the teaching-learning process and actively involved in research and have published research papers in national and international journals. All the lecturers have attended and keep attending conferences and seminars/workshops of interest related to their field. The department former faculty members were part of text book committee of Kuvempu University, and they have played a significant role in bringing out the English Work Book.
The department is offering National Education policy-2020 (NEP) from the academic year 2021-22 and also Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) with Continuous Assessment Grading Pattern (CAGP) wherein the students will be undergoing a continuous process of learning, assessment and evaluation which facilitates the students not only to abreast the knowledge but also to study some non-chemistry subjects also of their choice.
In addition to academic activities, the department organizes Conference/ Seminar/ Workshop/ Special Lecture, etc. for the benefit of the students. The department as a whole is working for the betterment of the students in particular and society in general.

To impart English communication skills to the students. To equip the students with manners, etiquettes and soft-skills. To enable the students to use English language as a tool for employment and competitive exams.
- Mission
The Department has taken upon itself the mission of working zestfully and resourcefully to impart the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing to students.
At the end of the programme, the students will be able to:
- Adopt the skills and knowledge required to the professional life and to qualify for training of communication.
- Acquire knowledge, abilities and insight in well-defined area of English Language.
- To get good communication skills for differently specialized and non-specialized audiences.
